16/12/2023 (Kuala Lumpur) Dato' Chai Woon Chet or more commonly known as Eddie Chai, the Managing Director of Anzo Holdings, has passed away at the age of 45. Chai Woon Chet was known for his health and had just recently shared his fitness achievements on social media, showcasing a more slender and fit physique.
It was reported that he passed away due to respiratory difficulties leading to suffocation. His unexpected demise has sent ripples through the business community, given his significant role in the corporate landscape.
Anzo Holdings, previously listed on the Malaysia Stock Exchange, was delisted in March of this year. Besides his pivotal position at Anzo Holdings, Chai Wen Jie was also a major shareholder and director in several listed companies. These included Oversea Enterprise (OVERSEA, 0153, Consumer Products and Services Sector) and XOX Technology (XOXTECH, 0017, Technology and Media Sector).
Known as a private person regarding his personal life, not much is known to the public regarding his family situation.
Dato' Chai Woon Chet's investment interests spanned various sectors, including telecommunications, finance, and real estate. Earlier this year, he announced his consortium's investment in FreeYond, a Shenzhen-based technology company. The initiative aimed to introduce FreeYond's consumer electronics to the Malaysian and Southeast Asian markets, highlighting his vision for regional business expansion.
